Week of February 19-25
We started out the week (Monday) by taking the elders grocery shopping at Warehouse, then over to Van Den Tweel. We had considered going snorkeling at Chocogo Resort after this, but for some reason we didn't go. I believe they were sold out by the time we went over there.
We decided to go with all the missionaries over to the Donkey Sanctuary that afternoon, and it was so fun! We had the best time. We went through their cute little gift shop and checked it all out; then went on our way. The sisters drove their car, and we had the elders in the back of our car. We just slowly followed each other. I had brought carrots and some apples, which I thought was a lot - but none of the missionaries brought any food for the donkeys. So I distributed all I had amongst all of us, and wished I/we had brought more! There are over 960 donkeys in the sanctuary. It is basically free-range, and they feed and water the donkeys each day.
Also this week we did lots of work on real estate - we have been looking online, working with leads from local people and realtors, and riding around and searching areas and lots, etc. We have been working specifically with a few folks, and it has been very time-consuming but we feel it will be worth it to have a place where the members can meet comfortably and sit in a chapel and have meetings inside - and not have to sit on crates!
We start off our days by working out, if we have time. Sometimes we don't workout, of course - on Sundays (we take off for church and for a 'day of rest') and Saturdays (we do lots of volunteer service on Saturdays, so we get a different type of workout!). But otherwise, Brian and I generally have our own workouts. We used to walk in the mornings, but because of some knee problems, we've mostly stopped. We each do workouts with some apps on our phones/iPads...I usually do some Peloton workouts (Barre, strength, arms, or whatever I'm feeling!). Brian does 2 or 3 "7 Minute Workouts" on one of his apps, and then does other ab workouts, body weight exercises and pushups, etc. However, since my knees are feeling mostly better, I think we can start up again. Last week we went up to see the sun rise at Seru Largu, which was really cool. We also hiked a loop, which turned out to be a few miles including some small hills, so that was pretty fun. We also picked a few mangoes that seemed free game. They're very hard - and lighter than a normal mango, but we hope they'll ripen up! (Update - we found out that they're not actually mangoes, but they are gourds that people use for crafting. Sad news. Oh well!).
