Goodbye to the Family, Sibling Lunch + Hayden's Birthday! 11/5/22

We said goodbye to our home in southern Utah, and traveled up to Provo on Saturday morning (November 5). We had a siblings lunch with Brian's sibs around noon. It's always super fun to get together with them! We went to Jane and Spencer's this time, and they had a great meal for us. We will miss everyone over the next year! It is really special to have family that's also our BFFs.  After lunch, we headed down to Provo to stay a few nights at a local hotel (very close to Hayden's BYU apartment!). We brought all of our luggage inside our hotel room, as we didn't want to make it too easy for anyone to be tempted to break into our car whilst staying there. (We packed a bit heavy...but what's a girl to do? We'll be gone for an entire year!!). Brian was embarrassed to pack in all our stuff, but we did it anyway.  That night we had a special 24th birthday dinner for Hayden planned up in Riverton, at J and C House for sushi. We're Going on a Mission!

Image
Brian and I have been called on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We'll be serving in the Trinidad Port of Spain mission, which is comprised of quite a few countries: Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Guyana, and the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao).  We have been assigned to work on the island of Bonaire. It is a small island, and the people here speak 4 languages: Dutch, Papiamento, Spanish, and English. We will be attending and helping in a Spanish branch (congregation), and we have been taking Spanish lessons and tutoring for the past 5 months. We are hoping to volunteer and help the people of the island out as much as we can, and provide humanitarian service to the people who live in this area of the world. We can hardly wait!  Brian and I enter the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah on  November 7, 2022 and will be there for 2 weeks. We then fly to Bonaire to begin our service!
